It’s all about Leadership. Water as you know runs downward from the top! It’s amazing how dark or light a shadow a Leader and his or her leadership team can cast over their organisation. It can empower or stifle, liberate or constrict the creative and productive potential of people. The strength of an organisations heartbeat and culture is determined almost exclusively by the strength and heart beat of its leadership. If an organisation smells, all you need to do is take a closer look at its leadership and I never heard someone leave a company because of it’s building – it’s always to do with something human and people related.
I believe strongly in people and the talent they have. I believe that in order to effect change, your people must follow you wholeheartedly. Without the commitment of your people your change plans will fail.
In addition, I believe in the unresounding power of love, purpose and integrity in business. I believe that if people are set extraordinary challenges and given the resources to address them including a demonstrated belief in them, the results can be amazing. Love is the basic core of humanity and people will give their life’s best to deliver results in a work place where they feel loved and are glued by a shared purpose.
My definition of leadership is therefore as follows:
My definition of leadership:
“Leadership is the clarity of understanding of where you want to go, the knowledge of how you want to get there and the ability to lovingly and without condition, mobilise people to follow you!”
I also believe that leadership is more than work. It’s also about community and giving back. To this end, I created The Enjoyable Life Series to provide society with the skills and practical ideas that if applied would have the individual live a more enjoyable life. It’s a Foundation of Encouragement.
I believe in the power of Love in Business. The pressures of Competitive and economic environment coupled with the pressures of day to day living has eroded the value of genuine respect, care and total acceptance of one another in business. The popularity of Engagement Surveys, well-being initiatives and demonstrations of corporate citizenship are evidence of a searching and intention to revive Love in the work place. Love is the greatest human need and the greatest human gift. With Love and resources the most ordinary of people can deliver the most extraordinary of results and of a quality that no reward and recognition incentive or compensation policy can produce.
Love must however be role modelled by the leadership of a business and demonstrated not simply spoken. A leader and leadership team that demonstrates love, respect and integrity is one whose people choose to follow and whose organisation people proactively choose to work for again and again. Wholeheartedly.
I hope that I have left you with a keen interest in exploring how we can work together. Let’s have a conversation about what can be possible.
